SUPPORT A CREW WORKER BY DONATING AT THE SPLENDOUR XR GIVING TREES

Splendour XR has teamed up with the legends at Support Act, Australia’s only dedicated music industry charity, to support the Splendour crew workers that have been impacted by Covid-19. Support Act raises funds for people in the music industry when a crisis impacts on their ability to work in music.

That crisis is here. It’s no secret that the music industry globally has been devastated by the Covid-19 pandemic. In Australia, there are tens of thousands of us who completely rely on income from live shows to earn a living.

Every time there is another Covid-19 cluster, a quarantine breach or lockdown, any plans to stage live shows or festivals are halted (again). This continues to have a massive real-life impact for all our crew and suppliers – from sound people, tour managers and lighting techs to event staff, publicists, security, stage builders and all the companies we hire our festival equipment from.

Across the Splendour XR weekend, you will have a chance to offer some financial support for the most affected of our Splendour crew, by donating at any of the virtual giving trees dotted around the site.

All donations made in Australian dollars are tax deductible. Your financial assistance will be given to crew workers as grants awarded by Support Act in acknowledgment of their contribution to Australian music.

The music and live entertainment industry will be the last to be able to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.  PLEASE help our Splendour family stay in the industry they love.

ABOUT SUPPORT ACT

Support Act is Australia’s only charity delivering crisis relief services to artists, crew and music workers as a result of ill health, injury, a mental health problem, or some other crisis that impacts on their ability to work in music. Established in 1997, its goal is to provide breathing space to help members of the music industry get back on track when they have hit a tough patch or just need breathing space.

In June 2018, the Support Act Wellbeing Helpline was established – a free, confidential 24/7 counselling service that is available to anyone working in Australian music or the arts who needs to talk about any aspect of their mental health. It can be accessed by calling #1800 959 500. Support Act raises funds from the music industry and its supporters. This can be in the form of donations, sponsorship, community fundraising, Help a Mate appeals, events such as our annual “Music in the House” industry lunch, and promotions such as Ausmusic T-Shirt Day.
